About ZeptoMetrix
ZeptoMetrix was founded in 1999 and is headquartered in Buffalo, New York, with manufacturing in Franklin, Massachusetts. It is part of Antylia Scientific. The company makes external quality controls, verification panels and reference materials for infectious disease diagnostics, oncology and applied testing.
ZeptoMetrix sites are ISO 13485 certified and FDA registered. Part of its range carries CE marking for in vitro diagnostic use (IVD), and the remainder is supplied for research use only (RUO).
Its best-known technology is NATtrol™: whole microorganisms that have been chemically inactivated so they are non-infectious, yet keep their nucleic acids intact. Because a NATtrol control behaves like a real patient sample, it checks the whole testing process, from extraction through amplification to detection.

NATtrol molecular run controls
Positive and negative external run controls for respiratory, gastrointestinal, meningitis/encephalitis, blood culture, women’s health and STI panels. Used daily or per lot to confirm each run performs as expected.
External Run Controls →NATtrol verification panels
Multi-organism panels for validating and verifying a new assay or instrument before it goes live, for example the NATtrol Respiratory Verification Panel.
Validation-Verification →Controls by platform
Ready-made control sets matched to specific syndromic and molecular systems.
All platforms →Inactivated organisms and culture fluids
Heat-inactivated culture fluids and purified viral lysates for assay development and in-house controls.
Inactivated Organisms →Seroconversion and serology panels
Serial samples from individual donors that track HIV, HCV, HBV and other markers across the course of infection, for assay evaluation and sensitivity studies.
Seroconversion →Monoclonal antibodies
Anti-HIV-1, anti-HTLV-I/II and other monoclonal antibodies for research and assay development.
Antibodies →Why Laboratories Use NATtrol Controls
Accreditation standards such as ISO 15189 and guidance from bodies like CLSI and CAP expect laboratories to run independent, third-party controls alongside the manufacturer’s kit controls. NATtrol controls are built for that role:

NATtrol is ZeptoMetrix’s patented process for inactivating whole microorganisms while keeping their nucleic acids intact. The result is a non-infectious control that behaves like a real sample in molecular tests.
A run control is tested routinely to confirm each run works. A verification panel is a larger set of organisms used once to validate a new assay, instrument or lot before routine use.
ZeptoMetrix offers controls designed for BioFire, Cepheid GeneXpert and many other platforms. Browse by platform or ask our team to confirm the right product for your assay.
Both. Some ZeptoMetrix controls are CE-marked for in vitro diagnostic use, and others are research use only. Each product page shows its regulatory status.
Products are shipped temperature-controlled to protect stability, using monitored, sustainable packaging.
