Maackia amurensis Lectin (MAL/MAL II)

Category: Tag:

Hemagglutinin isolectin (MAL II) is isolated from Amur seeds, Maackia amurensis, and is a glycoprotein. This lectin has a molecular weight of 130, 000 Da and is a dimer that consists of two subunits. MAL II has an isoelectric point of pH 4.7 and a carbohydrate specificity for Neu5AC2, 3Gal1, 4GlcNA.MAL II has non-specific blood group specificity and therefore agglutinates all types of human erythrocytes. It has a high affinity for Ser/Thr-linked oligosaccharides containing sialic acid residues linked 2, 3 to galactosyl residues. MAL II can also bind unsialylated structures, such as glycans containing SO4-3-Gal1-3GalNAc. See other MAL II conjugates. This product comes in lyophilized form and is stored at -20?C. No metal ions required for binding.
